achromatic lens n. A lens that does not have
perceptible chromatic aberration. That is, all colors of light focus at the
same point. Achromatic lenses are generally constructed using several lens
elements made of different materials and arranged so that one cancels out the
chromatic aberration of the other. Compare apochromatic lens.
