accolade n. 1. Commonly: an expression of
praise or the granting of an award: Oswaldo bent nearly double under the
weight of the accolades heaped upon him following the release of his latest
film. 2. Originally: a ceremony used in conferring knighthood,
consisting of an embrace and a slight blow on the shoulders with the flat blade
of a sword.
