absolute infringement n. A product that is certain
to be in violation of copyright law because the worldwide distribution rights
are held by a single entity and that entity asserts that the work has never
been legitimately released in that format. For example, if a company owns
worldwide, all-media rights to a work and has released it theatrically, but has
never released it for home entertainment, then any DVD found in the marketplace
must be an infringing copy of the original work.
