Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences; AIAS n. A
Calabasas, California-based professional association, established in 1996 to
serve as an advocate for its members in the entertainment software industry
(commonly called the video game industry, but also including computer games and
online entertainment). The Academy presents the annual Interactive Achievement
Awards to honor excellence in entertainment software and entertainment software
development. The Academy Web site is www.interactive.org.
The Interactive Achievement Awards ceremony is held each year
during the Academy’s annual Design Innovate Communicate Entertain (D.I.C.E.) Summit. The D.I.C.E.
Summit draws together the industry’s top game developers and entrepreneurs to
discuss issues concerning the current state and future of the electronic gaming
industry. More information on the D.I.C.E. Summit is available at
www.dicesummit.org. The Academy also presents the Into the Pixel exhibit, a Web
site (www.intothepixel.com) and traveling exhibit of video game concept art
that appears at major games venues, including the Leipzig Game Show, Electronic
Entertainment Exposition, Game Developer’s Conference, and D.I.C.E. Summit.
