AC1; AC-1 ABBR. n.
A digital audio compression standard based on ADPCM first used in 1985 for
digital radio applications and later adopted for direct broadcast satellite
television, satellite communications, and digital cable radio systems. AC-1 has
a data rate between 220 kbps and 325 kbps. [An
initialism of Audio Compression-1.] See Dolby Digital.
